FROM THE 1/12 WASHINGTON POST — A READER’S VERY ARTICULATE COMMENT ON HILLARY CLINTON’S JAN 12 MEET THE PRESS APPEARANCE
Just one example of Hillary’s “experience” and her failure to own up to her mistakes:
She voted to authorize the war in Iraq after having failed to read the National Intelligence Estimate at the time. Her only attempt to explain this serious gaffe in her record is to say, “If I knew then what I know now, I would have voted no.” Yet she fails to reconcile this to the vote of Senator Bob Graham who was the ranking member of the Senate Intelligence Committee at the time. Graham read the report, had access to high level briefings by the administration, and voted no and told his fellow senators at the time that the case for war against Iraq had not been made. Graham knew then what Clinton knows now. She is fully responsible for her serious error of judgment. Yet she still refuses to face her serious error of judgment.
Likewise, she shows no ability to learn from her mistakes by again strengthening the Bush administration’s rationale to consider attacking Iran by her vote to approve the Kyl/Lieberman amendment.
For those who see her as the answer to the ills in this country, beware that it could turn into a false hope. We need judgment in our president. America is on the wrong track. We need a bridge forward, not back to the past century. We need Barack Obama.
And tomorrow, in Florida’s first day of voting, I will vote for Obama with my intellect. I will vote for Obama with my heart. I will vote for Obama with my reason. I will vote for the whispered melodies of Martin, Bobby and John I hear in Obama’s speeches. I will vote for Obama with the fierce urgency of now. But more than anything else, I will vote for hope, for government that can tackle the big problems we face, and against cynicism, against the partisan divide, against influence of lobbyists who control the small bore government they’ve crafted to subvert the will of the people.
I’m fired up! I’m ready to go! Yes we can!
